LGBT HEALTH SUMMIT 2008

Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September, BAWA Conference Centre, Filton, Bristol

This years LGBT Health Summit is hosted jointly by Terrence Higgins Trust and Equality South West. A Memorandum of Understanding has been agreed between the two host organisations, this can be found here.

The 2008 LGBT Health Summit aims to raise the profile of LGBT people in the UK, and also to raise awareness of the health inequalities present within LGBT communities. The theme of this years Summit will be:

Equality and Diversity

The key objectives for this years Summit are:

  • To raise awareness of differences in health outcomes affecting LGBT people;
  • To share ideas and good practice regarding the removal of barriers to service access for LGBT people;
  • To focus on the specific and differing needs of a broad range of LGBT people, including older people, BME communities, disabled people and those living in rural settings, and;
  • To foster partnership working and to make recommendations about improving health outcomes for LGBT people.

2008 Steering Group

The 2008 LGBT Health Summit Steering Group will provide leadership, direction and support for the LGBT Health Summit. The Steering Group are tasked with organising the programme for the day, liasing with speakers and contributors, obtaining funds and administering the whole event.
